Hello chaps,
For those of you that have read my previous on the aforementioned issue I would like to say that since Rick-the-Picks magic touch the old girl is running on new life! Funny thing is that some functions that I didn't think the BECM controlled have now started functioning. Originally when starting the car and putting it in gear it would climb slowly from access past motorway and up to standard height, now it goes immediately (and I mean immediately) to motorway height until I drive away, never did that before! So now the other half doesn't require step ladders to get on board :) Even if I leave the car standing for a few days the lift is immediate and the pump seldom runs, I thought all of this was controlled by the EAS ECU (I haven't touched it, I swear)
The aircon was never really cold but for some reason is now freezing the proverbials off. The RF receiver picks up from miles away and the battery drain has finally gone (so far)
The old girl even seems to be running way smoother.
The mirror dip function is working now, although the passenger one has to be brought back up manually for some reason. (if any one has an idea why not please let me know) I will be disabling that function anyway, I cant really say it has ever helped much. I was always told Never Look Back anyway ;)
I guess that the BECM must have always had a lurking problem that finally manifested itself by giving up the ghost.
The only issue that I had was with fuse 17 giving fake news, after a bit of a tweak under Ricks instruction it seems to be just fine now.
Oh, yeah, the EAS disable function with the doors and tailgate open still exists, but at least I can rule out the BECM
Its like driving a new one, I even put my new chrome range rover badges on, cleaned and repainted the front air intake plenum (with a new filter toboot) and......... painted the faded door handles! Anyone know where I can obtain the 4.6 HSE decal in chrome, it is letting the rest of the bling down :)

I cannot thank Rick enough, top man

Hi Mark,
I am once again enjoying the old bus. The issue with the EAS is that the car still lifts or drops with the doors or tailgate open, has been that way for quite a while. Not really bothered but it is just one of those things I would like to find seeing as everything else is going well (so far....) :)

It would seem that the signal for inhibit isn't getting to the eas ecu. I'm guessing that this comes from the BECM.
If you had a nanocom you could see the status when you opened a door.
Not sure if storey wilsons software will show this or not.
Get a nanocom mate, they really are worth their weight in gold if you're planning on keeping it a while.

it's the price, it's a great tool I agree but that amount of money buys a lot of stuff for your home and family too. Like brake hoses and shopping blah blah....i would love one.. I guess I'll get one sometime.;):D

Yep, I agree they're not cheap, that said, I'm sure I'd have already spent more with various garages if I hadn't bought mine.

The BECM does not control how quickly the suspension rises, it has no input into that whatsoever. However it does signal the EAS ECU to inhibit movement up or down subject to signals from door ajar and brake pedal switches.

The door open signal does come up on the message centre along with the warning beep, the brake pedal inhibit does work, so I assume a different input to the BECM.
As for the other bits wammers, that is what I understood re the BECM and EAS ECU, must be a coincidence or the old girl is so happy to have a new brain that she has decided to behave (for a while.....) Mind you, I did change the engine compartment fuse box when this all happened, the old one has been tested and is deemed to be aok, still like new inside. Oh well, one of those mysteries of the P38 :) I am just happy that things are working now. I will look into a Nanocom I think, Storeys software is great but it does not read the door signals (I only have V2 though)
