bearing noise 2500rpm ish

i have noticed since yesterday that i had a bearing droning noise at about 2500rpm

the noise is there in any gear and isn't there before or after its got to be on the engine as if i take the car to the right rev range when going down the road and dip the clutch it instantly disappears

Gearbox input or lay shaft shaft bearings? I had a slight bearing noise on my ZS180 at a similar rpm until I did the clutch, I used new oil in the box once it was all back together and the noise went away

When was the box oil changed last?

the oil was changed maybe 1000 miles ago when i fitted a 2nd hand IRD and since then when i use the car and arrive home and get out i smell oil... always put it down to rear diff tho as that is weeping from the front seal but need to go to landy to order a new washer i was told

starting to think these might be related now instead

Did you use the correct oil in the box? It should be mtf94 but some listings list 10-40 engine oil which isn't correct. What oil can you smell? Gear oil or engine oil?

it was a gear oil i smell i no coz its a smell i dnt like lol i used the oil my local factors said it was on there system will check the bottle tho as i think i still have kicking about

i have attached a photo from ebay the thing i have circled is where i think my gear box leak is coming from all the bottom is wet (haha) goes up the box and when ya feeling about this is what i come across

what is the white thing i have circled.... also when i bought the Freelander the connector to this wasnt even on but it didnt leak
