Battery struggling

Top cat I meant to see if I can get an idea for the rear wiper motor.

As for the battery's I will have to find out I've asked the seller so let me see what he says

If not will hunt down some answers trace some wiring. One battery's one side ones the other though
sorry yes test from the chassis or body, there could be 4 or more wires as im sure there will be a park switch on the motor, this will probably switch between a pos and a neg but not too sure on disco wiring to be honest. There should be a live feed there when the switch is on at least

It sounds like you have two problems here, but you might not.

The first thing to sort out is the starting problem. Bad earth connections can give rise to all sorts of weird symptoms, including motors behaving strangely.

Before you resort to a voltmeter, which if you not used to using one can lead you astray, I would make a physical check of the battery terminals making sure that they are clean and tight.
Next check the other end of the earth cables between the batteries and bodywork and engine and bodywork, cleaning any corrosion from around the stud and making sure that they are clean and tight too. While you're at it you can check the condition of the earth cables and if necessary replace them.

I've found that if I have to get a voltmeter out then there's something I haven't checked properly first.

If the batteries are not at fault then look into whether the glow plugs are working, duff ones or wiring fault can make the motor turn over slower.

Or indeed, a dieing starter motor would make the engine crank slowly, even with good batteries. I recently put a new starter-motor on & it now cranks faster than it ever has before, and starts REAL quick.

Brilliant thanks guys in all honesty it sounds like when your battery is dieing and it's turning its last turn before it stops haha! Will check connections and earth for such then will get on with the rest. Cheers guys

Well update

Cleaned all terminals etc and she worked like a treat started with ease. So as she was standing around last couple weeks put her on trickle charge and let her top up for around hour

I guess the correct answer was a loose connection

You got it fixed, so that's great. Just in case it helps anyone else, I was going to say that I had exactly the same symptoms with a twin battery set up on my 300tdi disco...... One day it was like the battery was on its way out, slow starting, sometimes not turning at all but never the tell tale starter solenoid click ! Had the batteries checked and charging circuit checked, all fine. I put up with it for a couple days and then decided to get a new starter ..... Bingo, problem solved.
