Hello LR Guru's, I am new to his forum and this is my first post.
- I am getting battery low - please start engine every morning before I start the engine every morning.
- I purchased this new car in July 2018 and has 5k Miles and I do not have any external gadgets like dashcam or GPS etc attached to the car.
- I Drive 50 miles approximately every day. I keep the car inside the garage every day and lock the doors/car. I live in Washington DC, USA.

Any idea as to why this alert is coming every morning in-spite of me driving 50 miles every day? I am assuming the battery is getting charged while I drive, right?

Appreciate your input in this regard.

Thanking you all in advance,
Rsquare

I had a similar issue on a Range Rover L322 Vogue SE. It turned out to be a function that automatically warmed the car every morning was switched on. If I didn't drive it for a few days the battery would go flat. Could there be a similar function on the D5 that you are not aware is operating?

Thanks Si for the quick response. I was out of town for couple of weeks and the car was sitting in the garage. However, I came back on 12th Jan and drove the car for almost 600-700 miles since then but still get this alert? Is the battery draining? I assumed that the battery should get charged after driving 600-700 miles, right? I am a bit confused. Also, I have had the most disappointing experiences with my new LR Disco 5 every since I purchased. I have created threads in other USA forums which I will re-post it here. I had steering vibrations issues, AEB (autonomous emergency braking) not working etc.. The dealer is in denial and no to mention most of the technicians are old school style and are unable to handle the latest electronics issues. It's so disappointing to deal with so many issues on a new LR Disco 5. I had my BMW-X5 with no issues for a decade and so is my Lexus. So frustrating to deal with this unreliable LR.

That does not sound great. A battery should only discharge a small percentage in starting the car and is then rapidly recharged by the alternator. It should be fully recovered well inside your normal 50 miles. However, car batteries do not like being fully discharged and it could be damaged if it was left fully discharged before you got the car. Is it possible that the car came to the US with the battery installed? I would have assumed it was fitted fresh by the dealership, but you never know.
Cannot really comment on the other issues you have experienced, but the Jaguar Land Rover warranty is pretty solid and should certainly cover the issues you have had. My wife has a Jaguar XE and when we had an ABS indication our local Jag dealership sorted it immediately under warranty.
The advancing technology vs old school mechanic issue is why I choose to drive a Discovery 2 as my overland choice. If it breaks there is a sporting chance I will be able to fix it.

Thanks a lot Si. I have an appointment with the dealership this week to look into the issue. I will ask the dealership as to how old is the battery.

The only way to know fer sure if the battery is going flat is to measure the voltage across it's terminals.

I forgot to mention one more thing. All the audio controls are down. Basically, I cannot play radio or stream music using blue tooth. No Audio at all.

It could be that there are some serious issues with your D5 that the dealer will need to sort under warranty, but complex electronics are very susceptible to a bad power supply, so it is possible that these are symptoms of a bad battery and/or alternator.
First check that the battery terminals are tightly connected, a loose terminal can cause all kinds of weirdness. Then I suggest you get a multimeter and check the battery voltages, ideally about 12 hours after it was last charged in order to let it stabilize. At rest with the engine stopped and nothing drawing power, you should see about 12.7 Volts. This would be a healthy fully charged battery.
With the engine running and the alternator doing its job, you should expect to see more than 14 Volts.
Let us know how you get on.

A seven month old vehicle needs to go straight back to dealer, not looking for solutions online. Do not try fixing things yourself, you will void the warranty.
