battery light flashing!

if ignition turned on but engine NOT started the battery light flashes but not a steady flash! therers no rythum to it, it seems almost randome, so many flashes then a pause then so many flashes then a pause, some times a longer pause!
i know some motors relay fault codes via a flashing dash light and wondered if this could be a similar thing?

no! i just (end december) checked everything over, all the earths where checked and tightened, had new battery and alternator as well.
the old batt was 5 months old but had dead cell!
new alt is 120 amp and charging from cold at 15volt!
old alternator was charging at 13.5 volt
it starts first time every time, no trouble or problems with it at all

i just happened to notice one day that it flashes when ignition on and engine not started!

I know this seems a wayyyyyy too simple idea but could it be you have a dodgy bulb in the instrument pack?? Have you ever changed any of the instrument pack bulbs??

When I started having the bulbs go out behind the message centre I replaced the lot as I wasn't going to just start replacing one and then waiting for the next bulb to go.

When I pulled some of the old bulbs out they were nicely blackened on the tops, like you see when a bulb has blown and I guess it wouldn't of been too long before they all started going pop.
