I have a 2003 vogue and am having the usual battery drain problem I have changed the final resistor hedgehog thing about 3 times in the last year. Now it’s flat again I put the charger on yesterday and the needle went full scale on the ammeter, the battery volt was down to 8v and the same after 10 hours on charge
I fiddled with the fuses and found that taking out fuse 64 (big one) brought the charge down to mid scale and now it’s charged up and running OK?
The fuse I took out is for the main blower which works fine with the fuse fitted??
I’m scared of running it with the fuse fitted and bright ideas pleas

If the battery dropped to 8 volts, it's fecked, could be you do not have a battery drain problem but a battery problem.

Thanks for that I have a new battery in the post will try it when it comes. But since taking out the blower fuse the battery has charged up and is running the car Ok, just a bit afraid of putting the fuse back in

One thing that puzzles me is the fan behind the battery do we need it in the UK climate and can I easily unplug it? I say this because every time I open a door or bonnet or anything the dam fan comes on and goes off after about a minute, I assumed this was the root of my battery drain and even though I have pulled fuse 64 it still comes on !! Most annoying. Any comments great fully accepted, and this is the 2nd day without charging up the “fecked” battery. That big red fuse must be a clue to my problem.
