Battery drain

Hi all my 300 tdi disco has been stud for around 2 days and I've just come to start. It and the bat is dead and I mean dead, it's a new bosh battery as well. This has happened twice now.

Any thoughts?

Avatar is a bit of a giveaway. My instructor, many years ago on my CR2 gnr course was QRL.

What was his name?

My battery drain issue was down to the rectifier on the alternaotr keep sucking the juice out. A fully charged brand new battery would be dead in a few hours - all the way down to 3v. You could see it on a multimeter draining before your eyes.

Remove alternator cables and see if it stops.

If it is that can they be changes or is it a new alternator?

You can find a recon place. A lot of decent independent motor factors (the old fashioned type) that know their stuff tend to do them.

Disconnect it (making sure the battery is fully charged) and see if it still drops. That will show if it is the alternator or not.,
