Battery drain on 2004 Vogue TD6

Having looked at a whole lot of posts on this subject it would appear that it could well be that the Final Stage Resistor needs replacing. My question is, if I remove the fuse no.12 and monitor the battery with my voltmeter will this tell me if the FSR is faulty? or does the FSR also relate to other electrical components? any advice appreciated, thanks.

I don’t think the FSR is the problem. It’s part of the heater blower system.

Do you know if the number 12 fuse (10amp) is only related to the controls in the top half of the center console (and the heater controls and related fan behind it) or if it also serves other electrical items?
I've taken the no.12 fuse out the battery is currently showing 12.34 volts so I'll re-check the voltage in the morning. How many volts do you think it should 'normally' lose overnight, (with the car left outside in the cold), if there were no problems or faults with it?

It should hold overnight unless you have a funky battery. Have you tested it running? How old is the battery?

Battery is brand new, 1 week old! (and recommended by Tanya batteries for Range Rovers) And I have tested the output of the alternater and it shows around 14.00 volts when engine running.

12.34v on a battery is low, a good battery should read between 12.6 and 12.8, to test the alternator test at 2000rpm with lights and every thing else on you should have about 14,6v. did you charge the battery before putting it on as they can be sat around awhile on the shelf , its good practice to give it a good charge first as it help the life of the battery

I have fully charged it since It's been on as it went completely flat due to it's draining problem. I shall be charging it again tomorrow, but only after I've checked it's voltage (to see if it's dropped any more now that I've removed fuse #12)

I think that I might have found the problem....The horn has not worked very well, it worked, but was VERY quite, I removed the fuse related to the horn and hey-presto it appears to have stopped the battery drain problem! I have no idea why or how but surely this couldn't just be a co-incidence could it? it's ealy days yet as I only removed the fuse yesterday so I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Thanks again, Stig.
