l know l already asked this in my other thread but, l forgot to ask.

I realise it's fine to connect a battery charger to my Defender TD5 while it's still connected.

The question l forgot to ask was, is it okay to let my Smart charger charge to its full output of 16amps? lt's currently set to 4amps but it's going to take ages to put a reasonable charge into a flat battery at that rate.

The battery is flat again after the RAC spent an hour trying to fix the vehicle. l need to put some charge on it before it gets taken to the garage tomorrow, but as it's parked in the street l can't leave the charger on all night.

Can you not take the batt off and bring it in to charge it overnight?

You might need a head torch unless there is a handy streetlight or another person to hold the torch.

and an alarm clock to get you up the extra 15 mins it'll take to get it back in, in the morning!;)

The sodding BBUS keeps going off when l disconnect the battery. l can't seem to stop it, and it's a bit late now to start messing with it.
It's okay, l will put it on charge for another hour in the morning

There is a procedure for removing the batt which, if i remember correctly involves turning the ignition on, then off then taking the batt neg off quickly. I don't have a Defender I have a TD5 Disco, but it's much the same I'd think.
Best of luck with all this.:)
