Battery Box & Mud

Dumb question, sorry. (Not really!)

Got a bit muddy recently Got a battery box full of mud

Should I seal this up? Or are the holes in it (Made ones) neccessary

I removed my battery box and my battery is ratchet strapped to the chassis.
Well the tray was fekked, battery would have probably fell out unattended

**** Vagrent, not in that state yet. Just want to know if the battery box needs to be vented. Don't have a rust issue (ish) yet

I think its advisable due to the gasses the battery release during charging, being combustible ect. I think yes needs to be vented.

Batteries need venting - but check around the compartment - mine was full of little holes and tended to fill with water. Took a long afternoon with the fibreglass and patched them up, just the "official" holes at the top now!

Could you fashion a removeable plug that could be put in just for offroading, and removed afterwards perhaps?

or even breathers, like used on the axles, up to the engine bay...?

Hmm, battery box breather! I could go with that
