I removed the seats and seat box yesterday as its a saab 93 leather job and was just bolted to the box with 4 6mm bolts so i didn't think that would impress the mot man in the future so am working on a more robust attachment to the chassis. Whilst i was there i noted that the battery had no live feed going anywhere (i bought this project without an engine ) My research today tell me that the live wire goes off to the starter and then that feeds alternator which feeds everything else (ish) The rest of the loom seems intact and i assume is from the original 12j but has been used on a previous 200tdi.
Is there anything else i should be worrying about as i am surprised there is no fuse between the battery and the starter.
Pictures of a seat box and its battery box properly laid out would be gratefully received ..google is strangely short of these pics.

That is the same as the original seats will have been fitted, 4 bolts per seat into captive nut plates underneith the seatbox. So I wouldnt worry about altering that setup.

On the older models there was no fuse and you just had a heavy cable running straight from the battery to the starter. This was the standard setup. I believe that although the later 300tdi models had an engine bay fuse box with large fuses before the cabin fuses the starter cable was still an uninterrupted straight run. I cannot sa for later models (td5 onward) as I am not as familiar with them.

Unfortunately I cannot help with battery photos as my battery box also has the relay set for a caravan tow socket and a large soloniod isolator for the winch so looks messy compared to a standard one.

Yeah i need to change it a bit as want access to the battery box if nothing else, would also feel a little safer if i wasn't attached to a seat as it left the land rover!
Thanks for the answer though that helps a lot, the simplicity of this thing is great, just seemed to good to be true..my last one was a td5 and the wiring was a lot more complex obviously.

Ref battery access- you could fit Anderson connectors to the side of the seat box for charging/jump starts. Saves unbolting the seat on those occasions at least.

I had a quick look at what i have tonight wiring wise below are the pics any help would be appreciated its a bit of a mess with brittle shroud and nasty exposed wires so ill be shrink wrapping a lot this weekend i think! I think i've guessed a couple of obvious ones but the colours don't all match my diagram!
