I’ve recently brought a 1996 90 pick up that I came across in a shed, it’s not been used for around 10 years the chassis is in good condition and it’s only done 42000 miles. I’m unsure wether to keep it original or modify it for off/on road use as I want to sell it afterwards. What do you guys think will be more beneficial??

I’ve just got a lot of new upgrade parts and get a hefty discount with my parts supplier, didn’t know wether I’d be better off modifying this one to sell it

i always think that most off road mods are not worth the money they cost to add if you are looking to sell on in the short term.

Cheers

If I wanted additional off road ability I'd be more likely to buy standard and modify myself.

All mods come with a compromise and I'd like to make my own decisions

+1.

Plus you then know if it was done correctly, or at least you only have yourself to blame.............:D:D

Some of the "off road" ready vehicles you see on the road are interesting to say the least.

Cheers

Modify - to fit your needs! The whole point is to make it your own. Good luck - I feel sure you will do well. Be wary of asking advice on here! You may get a conflicted opinion that alters yours! I love original vehicles and I love modified, I just love the brand. Nelly and BB will keep you on the rite track ( smirking face)

His needs are to sell it which is a different thing

@Dc91 - don't be put off the modifications by these muppets! a smartly thought out mod vehicle will not only make it more saleable but also more desirable! But see what I mean about how they perceive your opinion to theirs?

Mods are personal choice and if this was a regular user of rough riding then there are other conditions hidden. Before the (SPIT) Scrappage Scheme, Defenders and older models would have been ten a penny and perfect for Mods. Today though a good standard model maintained command a high premium.

Modification can increase value especially by aiming for those that want a 'look' and there's nothing wrong with that BUT it's extremely unlikely value will be increased by the cost of parts let alone any additional work/time involved.

I'd be more inclined to think a muppet would give dodgy advice to an honest question because of some weird personal issues rather than the actual reality of selling a LR.

@Dc91 - not the muppet and his puppet ( the little likes this in the corner) have gone for me - but do research - look at a standard vehicle price expectancy compared with a mildly modified model - most these parts are not only cheap to buy but easy fitted. I feel sure you will make the correct choice that fits your need!

what about this mod @Bobsticle - took this photo outside a huge furniture shop near Manchester:- looks the part to me

I'm another for leave it alone. If I was buying another 110 I'd be put off that one because I'd have to take off the treadplate and make good, ditto the roof rack, pointless bumper, bars and lights. I'd be fairly sure that I'd find scotch locks on all the extra lights etc etc. I do like the colour though. Might have kept that.

It's taken me about three years to find the SIII I've just bought for exactly that reason. It hasn't had a tdi installed, no wiring mods and apart from a mysterious extra oil temperature gauge, it's just like the day it left the army.
