I have just fitted a new dizzy and fuel pump.

Timed everything up by the book but when I try to start her up she seems to 'sneeze' through the air filter!

Does not start at all atm just coughs and sneezes a lot.

Any ideas?

She's an 88' 3.5 V8 EFi

Cheers fella, gonna srip it all down and start again tomorrow.

I set it to the 6deg BTDC but I think thats for leaded fuel. Should I advance somewhat for the unleaded?

Yeah if you want it to pink like two skelentons making love on a tin roof.
6 deg btdc static sounds like a low compression engine to me. Set it static at 6 degs then when you get it running play with it until it runs clean without pinking. Best to use a strobe light to check what's going on. Engines that ran on leaded need retarding to run on the crap unleaded not advancing.

Also make sure the dizzy isnt 180 degres out. ie the rotor arm is pointing to no1 plug lead on the cap when no1 cyl is on its compression strock at tdc.
