Hi all, I replaced the valve block and pump in the p38..... All good.... Problem is now when I set it to standard height she's all over the place. Near side right up, off side rear standard off side front access. Set it manually to cruise/motorway setting and all level. Arrrrrgh!
Please tell me this is simple. Fookin fed up now. ....bright side is I can drive about in this setting I suppose! :) :)
 
Use the "Calibrate" tab on the EAS suite, click on read all at the top, you will then get the current settings for each corner and each level. Do one level at a time and use the write function to adjust in small steps checking the actual height at each corner after each adjustment as moving one corner affects the others due to weight transfer.
If the motorway setting is good, write these figures down and use them as the reference point for the figures in the other levels.
 
If it isn't the calibration, it might be that the valves on valve block that are in the wrong way installed (wrong place on the block)

Or, airlines in the wrong connection?

Or, you have switched the connectors of your valve block and drivers module ;)

It is all possible....

What is the exact problem you are experiencing currently?

Good point, if you got the pipes muddled at the valve block you will never level it:eek:
 
Hi guys. More baffling... Just been out doing the round on motorway setting(nice and level) thought I'd pull over before I got home and stuck it in standard..... It levelled perfectly and quickly... Got home pulled into garage and had a walk round it still all good. Switched it off and it levelled very dignity on one side couple of mm... Started it back up and pressed access and dropped nicely to this level. Put it back up and took a life time and went highest passenger side standard on drivers rear and didn't move drivers front. Drove back out of garage and looked at block and the pump was red hot. Burnt me fookin hand proper. Then I noticed as soon as I lifted the bonnet (maybe coincidence ) but it levelled on standard quickly and perfect. Noticed pump runs and cuts out every 15 secs or so???? Petrol and matches are springing to bloody mind! Oh gearbox fault has disappeared on dash after giving it a run ( battery low)

do you think it could be the EAS ECU sending ****e to the valve block every now and then? Can't be alot left to **** about with can there. Stick to the German roller as much as it kills me... Can't believe how bad these P38's are!! Had loads of LSE CLASSICS all of them proved them selves top motors. What went wrong from 94 onwards. ;-)
 
You know, when you level your Range Rover a couple of times ... so from offroad level to access level and back again .... your compressor will have to work enormously.

I'll try to explain why: There is an airtank in your RR and the airsprings are being 'supplied' from this tank.

I believe that this tank hold almost 10bar (between 8 and 10bar) air pressure.

Your compressor pumps all the air into this airtank and will do this untill the airtank is full.

When you go from access level -> offroad level, almost all air will be send from the tank into the airsprings...

When you go back from offroad -> access level, you would expect that the air would flow from airsprings into the airtank, but this is not the case. In this case all the air will 'vanish' thru the valve block filter.

This will drive your compressor crazy.... it than has to start pumping again untill the pressure in the air tank will be 8 to 10 bars again.... Such a small compressor will get hot. Very hot…
So this would explain to slow rising what you have seen…

It does not explain why your compressor is running every 15sec. As a matter a fact, in 99% of the cases, the reason why a compressor would run that often, is when there is a leak in the air system.
 
Now I thought I was half sensible .... I obviously ain't. That makes perfect sense..... Obviously just like when I reinstalled the block today... Had to leave it for 10 mins to build up. Thanks matey... All seems better on that point. But why will it sometimes level well and other times level like it's been on the drink for a week? Top marks to all you boys on this forum by the way. It's spot on. How do I get hold of admin as I would like to offer our services as web designers to help them keep going. I know not every one donates.

I have 2 diesel P38's where the compressor runs every few seconds with the bonnet open, normal running resumes as soon as the bonnet is closed. I assume it some kind of service aid?
The max running temperature of the compressor is given as 120C:eek:
