Back in the saddle

After over a year not moving more than 5 yards up and down the drive,
the 101 went in for a MoT today. Warren had it all day and put it in
for the test this afternoon.

Passed first time. Total cost, including the test fee - £38.50

It's been too long since I drove a Land Rover - not since I sold the
Disco last year.

Series 2 is being done next week!! That has a seized clutch, no
brakes, a smoking engine, broken front springs and hasn't moved in 3
years.

Might be a bit over £38.50....

I haven't driven mine for a week & i miss it like crazy!

I think the oil leak on the rear axle is the pinion oil seal as it hasnt emptied all of the oil onto the
carpark, just a patch 18 inches by 10 or so. last time my old diff emptied it was like a major oil slick
& I would have thought the Salisbury would hold more oil etc?

New road springs & dampers next week too!

Got the tyre pumped up today so I can get it into the garage for repair!

She's sat there needin to be driven!

For a horrible moment a wee while ago I had a vision of you throwing in the
Landrover towel.

Percy is also in a state of flux at the moment. The cost of the complete
exhaust, Impending holiday and trying for an exam for the third year all
getting in the way now.

Still 101's painted...something I was begining to think would never happen.

Chris has mentioned trying to sort a Hartington meet if your interested
would be quite central for a few 101 owners here.

How long did it take the tyres to get round again?

My 101's MOT ran out at the end of may and i still havent managed to
take it for the test. I've had to get an exhaust and hopefully it
won't need owt else or fail.

Trouble is (and don't tell him), Warren isn't doing it! I can't get a
big enough spot with him at this short notice - I need the garage
empty for our wedding reception in July.

There's a local place which had a go at fixing the 101 when I was
having stalling trouble - improved it, but didn't quite fix it. Also
fixed Mandy's Escort years back when the PAS started spewing fluid,
without charging us. So, we'll see how it goes. The guy I'm dealing
with is an old hand and should know his way around an old motor - it's
a lot less specialist than the 101.

It's booked for 3 days - can't wait to see how it goes.

Where's Hartington?

There's still a lot to do on the 101 to make it exactly what I want
from it, and I'm not sure I've got the heart for it. I fear that once
Stig (the S2) is back I won't find any time at all for the 101.

I want a new gearbox, finish the paint job and do a lot of work in the
back. It's no use to me as a camper, so I have a slightly oddball
idea for creating a 'boys room' back there - big telly, two or three
comfy chairs, Playstation, humidor, beer fridge and lots of computer
gadgets. It's going to be a while before I have funds for that
though, so it may be time to move on before I sink any more money into
it.

Mandy is still pining for an MG Roadster as well. I'm coming round to
her way of thinking, and the 101 would raise enough dosh to cover it.
