Back in Australia now after 10 days in the Arab Emirates. Had a 4x4 hire car reserved a Pajero but when I went to collect it found out I had been upgraded to a Ford Expedition with a 330 ci (5.4 l) petrol engine and 3 rows of seats. Luckily the fuel was 65 cents (AUD) in the UAE and 50cents (AUD) in Oman as i was only getting between 15 and 18 mpg and that was on high speed cruising roads and only did about 20 Km on mountain passes and none on sand.
This place is well worth going to as the scenery and sand dunes are spectacular and also i needed about another 10 days to see it all
