Hello again,
I was here a while back with a 1918 Defender 110 CSW that was eventually sold but I've not stopped thinking about getting another.

Since that went I've had another RS4, a Maserati, then I went cheap in an effort to save some money. I got an old 1 owner very low mileage Focus to knock about in but it was terrible. I then bought a cheap VW Golf V6 4motion.
This Golf is 'ok' but I'm finding myself watching Defenders go past, remembering mine and wanting another.
It's strange, all these performance cars, as fast and as exciting as they were don't do what the Defender did in so many ways.

So, here's the plan. Get rid of the Golf and get another Defender.
This time I'm planning on a post 2002 TD5 and a 90 this time. I like the 110 a lot but it was a bit of a barge. I'm not ruling them out, just aiming for a 90.
It'll need seats in the back and windows and I'm assuming some of these will be carpeted, like my old CSW?

I'm just in the research stage at present, making sure I'm in the right year re manufacturer upgrades and mods to the range. I've got my eye on a couple and I may make contact in the next couple of weeks if not already sold.

Now....Mileage.
I'm not someone who cares too much about mileage, I go by condition only usually and it's worked for me.
I've seen a 2003 TD5 with in excess of 200,000 miles on it. I'd not really be too concerned but that's quite a lot and clearly means everything has done those miles and could be a minefield. I'm not totally put off, it just may need a few things doing to keep it going and running reliably... did I say reliably? :)

Thanks.

Oh that's a shame, I was trying to envisage what it would look like. Perhaps someone clever on here could draw a depiction of this mythical mechanical monster!

Help help help....
I've been offered a 53 plate Defender 110 XS, cat D due to stolen seats. I'm not bothered by that and there are pictures that I've seen of it looking a bit sorry.
It's all repaired and refitted with the correct seats again but the main concern is that it has 200,000 miles with zero documentation due to the fact it was bought and repaired from a salvage yard.
It's a good looking one and has lots of trinkets on it that make it very appealing....It's tempting but what I'd like is some idea of what the experts think its value may be before I go back with more questions.

2003 53
Defender 110 XS
Sawtooth alloys
Roof rack
New larger rear step (can't remember name)
Air con and all the usual XS extras
Clean tidy, everything works

What do you reckon?

Take it for a test drive, listen to the engine once well warmed up. 200k could be fine, if the engine has been looked after. If the bells and whistles are all genuine Land Rover, it suggests someone with the money to pay for servicing. Of course, it's a risk. I think there's a way to search for previous owners via the DVLA.

I'm sure it'll be fine to drive given that the owner has genuinely been driving it about in the belief it was a 66,00 mile car. Given the evidence I have I know he wasn't aware of the fact.

I will get to the drive but before that I need to know if his 'bottom line' is still too much given the facts. Does anyone have any vague guess at what this may be worth. I know it's difficult given the circumstances.
Others in the same line are a few £K more but there's one that's the same for only a little more....I just have nothing else to compare it to so needed to hear it from the experts.

Got one!!

I went over budget and instead of the intended 90 it's a 110.
It's a 2004 110 XS oooOOOOOooohhh

Well I'd never have believed you if you told me...
Electric windows?
Heated seats?
Heated windscreen?
Air con (of sorts)?

This isn't a Defender, it's some sort of dandy fop's car with all these poncy bits on!
More details and pics to follow....
