Back axle came loose today on the Disco, it's been juddering on take off for a while and I've checked bushes and clutch for oil leaks and engine / gearbox mounts etc and found nowt.
Turns out that the bracket on the off side of me rear axle that holds the locating bar has broken. It was cracked on just one side of it and I failed to see it when checked, it had been moving when I started off and eventually the other side of the bracket gave way allowing the axle to drift about on one side. Luckily I was only doing 10 mph when it broke..
Going to weld it all back up with some new plate on it tomorrow and chech the other side.

Had the same fault with mine a week after we got it. Rear wheel steer anyone. Had mine welded back up and some plates made up and welded on to add some strength to it. Belt and braces i know but not going through that twice

Done that today. nice and strong now and 90% of the clutch judder has gone. Need to check the other side now and treat it so no more rusting away. Lives depend on it :)

don't blame you matey, after i had mine done a found a new bracket on ebay to weld onto the axle for £7.50. As with lives we are the same me,the better half and four kids. Anyways good luck with it.
