HI Guys,

I'm looking to swap my salisbury axle for something I can get an ATB diff into.

Anyone tried the Britpart axles: https://www.britpart.com/all-parts/da1707

I'm always wary of "HD" "Extreme" "Strong" descriptions. Is this birtpart one actually going to be tougher than a reinforced post 2002 110 rear axle? (eg. with this welded on

)

I just happen to have a spare long nose diff in the garage so the DA1707 one makes more sense to me than the DA1706 (short nose) - both say suitable for defender 110 rear axle - or trying to pick up a refurbished P38/puma/TDCI rear axle that would take a short nose diff.

Two long nose on the car also simplifies things to my mind, although I'm not sure if there's a standard prop for this yet... surely there must be?

(I blame a very good article I found for bringing me to even consider the axle swap: https://www.landroverexpedition.com...-salisbury-axle-with-a-td5puma-110-rear-axle/ )

Comments extremely, HD welcome,

Andy

I've never replaced an axle but my rear salisbury is nearing the end of it's useful life and will probably need replaced in the next year or so. All I can say is that, for such a crucial component I would not be going any where near Britpart.

The Salisbury is a better stronger axle than the Rover ones. Land Rover only stopped using them due to licensing issues. They use a Dana 60 centre. Which means there are loads of options for lockers/limited slip diffs.

Dana 60’s are used by Ford, Jeep, GM and Dodge.
