I’m currently in Australia and have bought a disco 2 with what seemed to be no problems! I have had the car for 3 months now and it’s started to not show a D on the dash while in drive however still drives like normal until the car comes to a stop then acts like it’s in third however still doesn’t show anything on the dash! This can be temporary fixed by pulling the gear lever to the rear and the D appears against drives like normal! Wondering if anyone else has had the same problem but I havevn’t seen a previous thread or anyone else with this problem so far. Any help would be useful thanks.
Ewan.

Sounds like a problem with the XYZ switch on the side of the gearbox.

+1 - You;ll probably find that the aircon drain has been watering your XYZ switch, and it has become "unhappy" - confusing the electronics.

So, extend the aircon drain, (and be sure to thank LR for their stupidity:mad::mad::mad: ), then clean out, or replace the XYZ switch - given the cost (£300ish), you might like to try cleaning it first ...:)

Just looked at the xyz switch and that definitely looks like the cause of the problem as I put the car into drive with the handbrake on and I was able to easily push it into third gear from underneath the car were the auto transmission cable attaches to the xyz switch! This leads me to believe that the fully isn’t with the electronics but in fact with the positioning of the lever when in drive. I’m going to give a try at cleaning it out and I’ll let you know what happens. Thanks for the help so far!
