Hi All,

As its getting darker, and the ijits with HIDs are out in force, I thought I'd better have a look to see why my autodim mirror wasn't doing anything. I've read a few threads about them leaking their internals, but mine hadn't done that in the last year while I'd had it.

I pulled the cover back on the mirror to check for power, only to find there was no cable going into it! I removed the interior light and found a spare cable behind so just thought someone had had the headliner out previously and forgotten to put it back!

But, both ends have female connections (see attached bad pics!).

Am I missing a link cable or something, or has the spare cable in the headlining got nothing to do with the mirror?

Cheers

Did this job in my disco as mine had leaked, there should be some wires coming out back of the mirror from what i can remember of mine, i didnt find a connector from memory was just wired but there must have been conector under headliner, but i cut off and solder new one on, i wouldn't think the connector you found would be for auto dim as should just connect lol :/ will send some pics of mine tomorrow to see if that helps

just had another look at mine (in the light!).

I've got three wires coming out from the back of the mirror (through the ball joint) going into the female plug which is all in the mirror 'stalk'.

The 'spare' cable in the headlining has 5 wires. I guess the extra two could be going off to the door mirrors (I believe these are supposed to dim too).

But, still no way to join the two, if they are supposed to be joined.

Anyone any ideas?

Cheers

Marc
