Thought I would post this as I couldn't find the info on here.
My auto wouldn't go above third gear and was having to rev the gonads off it to go from 1st to second and again to 3rd, I did manage to get it into 4th but that was in Germany at 80mph :] so I looked on here and all I could find was to change ATF and filter, I did this and although a fluid change was needed it made no difference.
After lots and lots of reading I ordered a Coolant Temp Sensor, fitted it the other day and have had no trouble at all with the gearbox since.
I am now cruising around at 60mph and 2100rpm not having to sit at 50mph and 2500rpm
