Hi all,

As the title says, how easy (and expensive) would it be to take the auto box out of a V8 disco 1 and replace it with a manual one from say a 300tdi?

Is it possible? Would I need an adaptor plate? Are the mountings the same? What about the transfer box?

I know the pedal arrangement would need swapping and probably the centre console too but what about props etc

It's just a thought - I wondered if anyone had any opinions or experience.

Cheers,

Jack

I don't know either but with rusty disco's being quite cheap maybe look for a manual v8 scrapper and everything you need is there, eBay what's not needed. Scrap what's left.

Its not a difficult job, and there is a lot of info on the ashcroft transmissions site. It is however, quite a time consuming job, and I, personally wouldn't like to do without decent facilities. I reckon @Flossie 's idea is about the cheapest way of getting the bits you will need, ashcroft do a kit, but its quite expensive - but they are all new bits, so.... your call.

IIRC, t box and props are the same, The plastic interior console is different, - auto selector is a bigger hole - so man to auto is easy - auto to man might get messy - but it depends how fussy you are (!).
