Hi All

I have 80 k miles on my Freelander. I took it to a mechanic who says he works a lot on Landrovers. He had the car for a while and said I’m safer not to change the oil has its never been done to date.

He says problems may develop with the new oil.

Is this correct or should I get a second opinion?

Thanks

been told the same dont touch it why i dont no  but the hippos got 170000 on the clock still the same oil it left the factory with and all is well:D

Had mine changed twice as part of the normal dealer service routine.
No problems after either change.
You don't notice a drop off in performance when the oil is getting tired, you do notice an improvement when the oil is changed.
If you tow a van regularily, or drive in hot climate, it will degrade the oil faster.

I've changed my auto oil without problems. Theres a thread on here about it. Needs to be done correct to the precedure.
