Auto gear box issue

Hello all hope all is well in the current situation. I have just picked up another hippo unfortunately its suffering from a gearbox problem it's a 2000 td4 automatic gears select fine no problem however when changing into second and third it slams into gear very roughly resulting in nearly headbutting the dashboard doesn't seem to be slipping in any gears just a thud into gear iv read about soliniods some say oil change some say its going to be soliniod any ideas where to start many thanks happy new year

Probably one of the 3 duty solinoids, mine was doing this in all gears thou, I changed out all 3 and all was good..even thou the ones I pulled out, I could not find fault with.??? As yours is just in 2 to 3 might be the 2 to 3 solinoid.

Thanks for the reply yes I have read your thread and thought it sounded similar how easy is it to swap the soliniods please

It's quite easy just a bit fiddly...about 10 bolts to remove the valve cover then, just a bolt per solinoids.
