Hi :)

My Hawkeye always returns a value of -39ºC for the boost temperature sensor. There's a topic on RR.net where 2 other users have this problem. I've also replaced the sensor with a new one and it's still reading the same. I'm thinking about filling a report with Bearmach but would like to hear more from other diesel P38 owners'.
So, if you have a Hawkeye unit and a diesel P38 can you please read the boost temperature value and place your results here ?

If its a DSE with an MAF it will always read -39oC. The early pre-EGR diesels used air temperature to calculate the density of the air for fueling purposes. With the later ones the EDC takes its fueling inputs from the MAF but the diagnostics still return a value of -39 for intake air temp.

With P38's the age they are its always difficult to know whether original parts are still fitted or not. I've seen MAF equipped P38's with the intake manifold from an earlier model complete with IAT sensor (can't remember if there was a wire on it or not).

I have a '95 P38 Diesel here at the moment. No MAF sensor and Hawkeye reading IAT at -39, even with a new sensor. Have also tried various resistors across the IAT lead terminals, but no change to the readout even when shorted with wire! Terminals are at +5V and 0V. Seems to be overfuelling a bit too. Any suggestions? Or is this a matter for Hawkeye/Bearmach?
