My 300tdi needs a new bulkhead - I've been eyeing up ashtree ones.

I spoke with someone yesterday who had been asked to fit one, and he said it was awful (as in the quality of the repairs, pre galv)

He did say, in their favor, that it was some years back, and maybe they had gotten better by now, but advised me to check the situation further before purchase.

So -

If you own, have seen, or otherwise have had physical contact with one of their units, what as your feeling about it?

my 300tdi bulkhead is with them now.... so I should be able to tell you in the next couple of weeks.

I dropped my whole landy on the bulkhead & seat box (they landed on the gearbox I was trying to remove), so there are certainly some repairs to be done.

An Ashtree BH quality will depend on what they started with will it not? Have you priced new ones from the usual suspects, or even Land Rover?

I've got one on my 110, I didn't fit it myself but the garage that did the work didn't report any problems other than a long wait as Ashtree were moving premises at the time.
I've had no problems with it or the front doors I had done at the same time.

I've not long since fitted one for my rebuild. They delivered a 200Tdi one instead of the 300Tdi that I ordered. Unfortunately, I didn't realise until I'd had it painted and was fixing things to it. :( They did offer to change it, but it was too late by then.
I think some of the welds could have been ground back smoother. Eg the front top corners. I skimmed mine with filler and gently rubbed them down to get a flatter finish as these corners are very visible.
I've just fitted the gear box tunnel mount. It's U shaped with a 'foot' on each end. One foot sits in each footwell. The foot in my passenger footwell is sitting on an untouched weld which is stopping it sitting flat on the footwell  It's annoying because it's going to cause problems creating a seal there to stop water coming in through the floor.

It's the only one I've seen, so other companies may be similar.

Their customer service was shocking
after waiting for almost 4-5 months, I got sick of being lied to
They kept changing the completion date, I had to chase them when each date got nearer
They even said they would meet me with the completed bulkhead at a landrover show, they simply did not turn up or inform me to say they would not be attending
so in the end I told them to stick it

Try a google search as I think some series owners have also had issues, I have to say I have also read good stuff about them.
