Our ‘new’ to us 2011 Freelander has an intermittent ‘Reduced Engine Performance’ error message. We checked the error codes which pointed us to DPF issues.

The local specialist failed to fix it (apparently drove it around doing regens) which is another story but I’m £300 lighter with the same issue 50% of the time.

The error seems to happen on long journeys or when the car has been running multiple short start-stop trips on same day.

We drove around with an iCarsoft plugged in monitoring the voltage going to the sensors and observed it dropping to zero on occasion.

Curious to know if others have seen similar and have any advice.
Thanks in advance!

I know nowt about freelanders and intend to keep it that way:D

But all the systems are much the same, the main sensor is called the differential pressure sensor, and this measures pressure before and after the dpf to decide if it blocked/needs a regen etc.
Sometimes they cannot be regenned anymore, so they either need new or cleaning, there are also regens and forced regens with diag software

Used to be a product called Cataclean that people used to use, unsure if it is still about?

Hi Angela.
Click the links and have a good read you may find a solution, personally i do not think it's right for aby garage to pass a car back with the same fault not being sorted out and charge you for it.
