It may be that the very latest TATA produced models will be better, they have worked wonders for reliability at Jaguar. I doubt the Ford produced ones will be any better than the earlier ones, the BMW engines were OK and the Ford/Peugeot diesels have their own problems as do the AJ petrols.

Sorry Datatek, the reliability improvements you've seen ARE the Ford improvements - it takes years for company philosophy to make a real difference. Reliability steadily improved under Ford (nearly matching Lexus in the executive class - particularly the last of the X300s) 'cept when the aluminium X350 was introduced there was a negative blip (from the X308s) before they recovered again. Similarly the X351 introduction saw another downward (but not terrible) blip. Certain models (X type, S type) were never that fantastic in class for reliability but were by no means unreliable.

The current models are to all intents and purposes Ford Jaguars (the V8 petrols with Jaguar engines of course). Talk about TATA reliability in 5 years time - especially as the TATA developed drivetrain and electronics start appearing in the cars.
