Aquasolve Fuel Treatment

Just wondering if this stuff added to your fuel tank is any good. Has / is anyone using it on their Landy?

A friend has a Vito van and swears by it saying it’s dropped his engine emissions, increased his range and his engine runs smoother.

I’m sceptical as having looked at the web site, what he’s told me is on their site. It’s £25 per litre so not cheap.

Ive tried most of them incl the posh petrol/diesel and have to say not once have I ever noticed any difference to engine sound/power/mpg etc

When I read of a new one I try not to, but end up buying it and always its the same result.

For 25 quid why not buy and try it? then end up thinking sugar that would have bought me X amounts of beers!

I’ve never heard of Aquasolve before, seems to be a diesel bug preventative and performance ‘booster’ by removing water present in the diesel?
I use Millers diesel additive and it definitely makes a difference to smoothness and performance of my 200tdi engine. I recently ran out as my local motor factors closed down and I couldn’t be bothered getting any via the internet, I noticed the difference after the next visit to the pumps. It may not be as noticeable in TD5s and TDCIs, but definitely is in TDis.

Would lighting a small fire under the fuel tank not also boil off the water in the fuel ?

Indeed it would - would also dry the rest of the landy quite nicely too

I have not read the link, but if thats what it does ie marine then its probably quite good at that job, I use Marine16 in our boat for no other reason than thats what the previous guy used and he had bad fuel bug problems, so bad it wrecked the injector pump and injectors, cost him 2k in parts alone!
Have to say they still smoke a bit and have not noticed any improved mpg

+1 for Millers, it does seem to help the 200TDi run cleanly.

Just buy branded fuel from the likes of Esso or Shell or BP and be done with it.

People like cheap fuel then pay £££ for additives to make it better, just buy the good fuel. Supermarket fuel is poor quality.

Older Landy engines will not respond to fuel additives like newer engines can, these things are too agricultural - they just want good clean fuel with some lubricity and some energy to release! A cetane boost may help create a full burn which is therefore cleaner certainly but you get that from likes of V-Power out the pump and no messing with stinking chemicals.

Useto use millers injector cleaner on my older TD4 , maybe it was me imagining it, it seemed to run smoother , but unless in reality it was tested before and after no way of knowing 100%

Another thing from a personal point of view is I wouldn't ever do a power flush on an engine or auto gearbox

Heard that putting injectors into ultrasonic cleaners have had good results , then using a rebuild kit after

Also always use high quality oil, latest was some millers 5/30 engine oil in my D3 , sounded quieter and smoother , but yet again placebo effect again I imagine

Will periodically undo the water trap on the bottom of the fuel filter

I normally buy everything for my local mechanic to fit on a service when it gets its mot

Got meyle fuel filter and air filter this time , ravenol oils for the transfer and front / rear diffs

Even though I only done a few hundred miles from last year will always change all the oils and filters , indeed an overkill but peace of mind
