Have seen this series three advertised locally, (I have a Freelander, q the abuse....).

It is easy to buy and fit a hard top back and safari style door to replace the hood ? Tried a search, but not much came back...

Price seems reasonable, providing it's solid as stated, doubtful about mileage obviously....

Land Rover Series Iii

Appreciate your thoughts.....

Looks good but pricey, nowt wrong with the hood as it will be quieter than a hard top. Where are the door tops? Check they are included :D

£200 or so for a hard top, sides and door - the canvas and sticks are worth a bit though with summer approaching - I'll do you a straight swap if you like :D

I was hoping not to pay that much, but what do you think would be a more realistic price?

I will check on the door tops, thanks.

I paid £45 for a pair of station wagon sides, £25 for a roof and the same for a rear door.
When fitted and painted they looked good.

Thanks everyone, what about the price of the LR itself ? was mentioned as being 'pricey' any idea what is a more realistic asking price for it's age condition ? (Appreciate that would be just from visuals).. Cheers

Would have to be something special (eg low mileage original) for me to consider anything over 1800, even then I'd expect recent work along the lines of verifiable gearbox recon or similar. Having said that they go for seemingly random amounts

Thanks, I was hoping to get it at a reasonable price seeming as the owner is heading abroad.. I will see how flexible they are...

I've noticed how they range considerably in price - seems to be no real sense as to how they come to it...

Got my hardtop for £25 once sides with windows, and £11 for the rear door. All from eBay just have to wait until they come up in your area.

I have a truck cab on mine and just bought a rag top with poles - trust me they are worth very good money!

For that Series, it looks ok - cruck lock is a bit of a joke! that wouldn't do anything, but, from the few photos looks reasonable. Personally I wouldn'y pay more than £1500 for it and if someone told me they'd paid more than £2k for it i'd be worried for them.

But, people have this weird perseption that their landy is worth more than it is (bare in mind this one is not tax exempt too) anyone i've ever contacted trying to sell and over priced project after the sale has ended with no bids, has always said they're going to keep it instead... maybe they're hoping it will be worth more with 10 years more rust on it :/

I suspect they've bought a new ragtop and added that onto how much they think its worth.....doesn't quite work like that though

+1

buy it without the rag top….. offer £1,900 …. if its sound :D

you can pick a hard top up relatively cheap …. :scratching_chin:

the one and only hard top i've bought cost me 99p from ebay, this came with van sides that had strange windows fitted to it (god knows what they came out of but they were slide opening windows) i never used it in the end

purchased about 4 years ago
