anything to look out for when converting back to airbags from coils?

Not as complicated as you might think. All parts are available, buy used and refurbish. then 4 new airbags from island and perhaps a weekends work, then you will literally be riding on air.

seeing as you are in the USA it might be cheaper to get arnotts gen 2 air bags and they are better bags

Have you got the pump and valve block ? Have you checked to make sure the pump is running ?

It seems that aside from perished airbags, the other reasons for putting ghastly coils on the P38 is the failure of the compressor or the valve block. the compressor piston overhaul kit is worthwhile, it may be weak due to a worn sleeve and the valve block overhaul kit as the diaphragm and o rings can perish. You'd be looking at about an hour for each to overhaul the kits are about £30. once you have good air output, the EAS is easy !

Nice to see someone doing the decent thing to their R/R. Had to put a R/R enthusiast / mechanic in his place the other night when he told be that the best thing I could do to my P38's is put them on COILS . I guess he never got a reaction from anyone else before like the one he got from me . I told him that he obviously didn't understand the system and as long as it is properly maintained gives very little trouble. He soon left the pub rather sheepishly.;)

That's worth a good tarring and feathering.
