hi all

I've searched for wot I'm looking for and can't really find the answer, and I don't know if this is the rite place for this so please stick with me.

Me and a mate are wanting some new mud tyres and were thinking about getting the stt pro instead of the BFG km2 for a change (and the price difference). We've seen alsorts of info that looks good but we can't find any actual sizes of them when measured by people who own them, not wot they reckon to be (285/75 16), and we don't know wot the tread depth is from new. So, anyone out there that has them can you help please, and also tell us generally how they are lasting and wot you think to them

Many thanks

Towsey

Have you tried the makers own website, most stats are normally published....

As for size and tread. What vehicle and what use? Big fat tyres often look 'cool' in the monster truck way. But the reality is, they usually don't perform as well on UK terrain.

Yeah, we found one saying that they are 11.2" wide and 32.99" diameter and have 19/32" tread which is about 15mm but websites say alsorts of stuff, that's why we're looking for people that have them to get some real info. I think that bfg km2's are about 18-20mm tread new and a harder compound so they last well, but then some people say they are a bit skittish in the wet because of it don't they

Looks like you are over thinking it. They have a good rep, buy em, try em if they ain't no good sell em and get the bfg s

Cheers for the reply

Yeah I know where ya coming from but I just don't want to waste the money having to buy a set of tyres to find out they are too small or come with not much tread, just to have to try and sell them on at probably second hand price and I'm not on eBay or anything. I was kinda hoping that more people on here would have them and i would of had more replies but not to worry. Sure you understand. Have you heard any bad reports about them?

Thanks again

No. I know their a bit dearer, the size isn't gonna make any difference, as long as they fit. And deep tread like that you are gonna get a decent amount of miles until they are bald enough to change. Friend of mine had em and liked em, but didn't have anything much to compare em to.sounds like money's tight. Maybe get cheaper tires. Or even consider different rubber.

The disco is my daily driver so I don't want cheap wobbly horrible things. I'm happy to spend the amount of money necessary to get some good rubber but don't like wasting the stuff that's all ha. As for size, I just don't want to get them and them be about the size of 265's when I want 285's if ya get me, I'm sure you know wot tyre sizes can be like. As for bfg's ive used them off road and liked them and obviously they have their reputation, but I've never used them on the road in the wet and people say they are quite skittish. And from wot I can find the stt pro doesn't have much tread, this is why I was wanting to find some people with them
