Anyone running a harman kardon with a Parrot kit?

So,
I have a 2000 (X) disco 2 GS with a harman kardon set up.
I love the stereo (and the disco- new addition, pinched it from the wife)

I do however want the functionality I had in my 5 series, Bluetooth for the phone and proper use of the ipod functions (its an iphone)

The parrot MKi9200 ticks all the boxes, just wondering if anyone has one fitted, whether they did it themselves or got halfrauds to do it.
(not afraid of spanners etc)

seems like the perfect system to me, and the only one I can find that properely syncs with ipod.

so any thoughts?
 
I've got the 9200 in my Impreza and it's been faultless. I didn't fit it myself though as the car was brand new so Subaru fitted it as it's better that the built in bluetooth.

Can't comment on fitment in a Land Rover as I've not got a Parrot in my Disco yet but when I do it'll be the 9200.

Great for hands free, big bad fail in my opinion for ipod use, i'm on my 3rd one in my car now, first thing i didnt like is you can only turn ipod up with the device and its equaliser presets which is sh*te and distortes at levels where my car radio wouldnt, then its forever crashing even after numerous updates, it will be fine for a while, then the next day im forever turning the ipod off and on, really f*cks u off sometimes, on my 3rd kit now and it still does it so give up with em, not just me either, does it on my mates too so im guessing it does it on em all, ipod touch btw
 
I've been looking to find out the same thing, I've just bought a '00 RR Vogue with the harman stereo and really fancied one of these. Ive a mate who works for halfords, and does all the fitting for the kits. Apparently theres no way of using the Parrot kit with the Harman setup that he knows of (He has a good background in high end car audio), as the parrot uses an ISO connection (standard multiplug for head units) as it is an active system with a power amp. The only option he knows of would be to change the headunit and amp for an aftermarket system...

Surely somebody somewhere has a hands free kit with the harman stereo?!? I dont want one of the basic bluetooth kits with the small speaker behind the dash as ive an iphone and want to use the ipod part through the stereo

Any good fm transmitter type kits that work well for hands free??
 
I don't have an ipod or iphone yet - technophobe. I was told by my local Halfords that the muting wouldn't work properly with an HK system and Parrot 9200. I tried a specialist car phone fitting company and they could do it but I'd lose the cd changer. They recommended changing the head unit to one that had BT, an aux jack socket and USB port.

I emailed Parrot and got the following reply:

"Thank you for your enquiry at Parrot UK. It should be possible to install the MKi9200 into a 2003 LandRover Discovery with Harman Kardon. However a specialist adaptor will be required to enable music streaming through all of the vehicles speakers. Adaptor leads are available from a specialist company called Nemesis. Nemesis can be contacted on 01386 565 700 or E mail [email protected] Upon contacting Nemesis please make them aware that we have transferred you to them".

I'm in a state of limbo at the moment as I don't particularly want to change the head unit but I do want to be able to be able to plug my MP3 and flash drive in to play music. I've also heard that the 9200 has been somewhat problematic.

At the moment I'm using my Garmin satnav with BT as a temporary fix for the phone.
 
Ok, I've been in touch with the company from Rowkie's post, and got a reply from them

They do a lead, which is specific to month/year and model, but in my case an '00 Range Rover Vogue with the Harman Kardon setup, and to use an iphone as hands free and also playing music through the system -

This plugs into the back of the stereo (so you don’t have to find the amp in the boot!) and then connects directly to the parrot kit itself (without using the leads in the parrot kit)

If you bought this lead and an MKi9200 from us, the complete cost would be £182.03 + VAT (including shipping)



It should make for an easy install for someone compared to some I’ve helped" - ENDQUOTE




Definitely worth giving them a shout for other models etc, theyre more than helpful, and seems a bit cheaper than a lot of places (like Halfords £169 for the parrott, then you still need the lead)

Yes and you need an additional adpator to deal with the amp, its about £25 gives these guys a call on 01206 500821.
 
For some, it may be easier just to change the head unit if you want similar functionality.

Many head units have bluetooth functionality, allowing for hands-free calls. (with a built-in mic) Some will also play music from your iPod wirelessly via bluetooth. (No need to connect it up!)

Here's what I've recently ordered for my car:
