I'm glad everyone is so on the ball on these matters, Never heard of avcis until now,
let me know if you hear anything party monkey.

Avcis?

Metropolitan police came back to me. Putting a flag on the plate. If seen will be pulled over. Seller came back after I asked for vin number which he had said he had and said no longer sure. Told him its on the plate in pic and on v5. He's not answered and refused to give me number to view it.

Probably.

Thing when they come up is to get a phone number, and reg.

Then call 101. When option comes up press 1. Then wait til relevant police force comes up.

If you give then enough info they will flag it. Anpr cars will pull it if seen.

AVCIS is the Police Vehicle crime intelligence service.

Any suspect vehicles/parts can be reported at a dedicated email address. There's a thread with the details as a sticky at the top of this board.

Unfortunately, this is not LR specific, so the address gets a lot of reports on all marques, so best to only send stuff to them when you/we/collectively are darn sure it's suspect....

Over on the other place that watches landies :nospamhere: we're slowly but surely building a relationship with a couple of the guys in AVCIS, so decent suspicions from folk that know their stuff should hopefully start to get looked at more seriously

That's good. Copper I spoke with said wanted to do more but unless someone has been and looked and "knows" they won't usually act.

How's this.
I know the vehicle is not a S111
It's a coil sprung 90 with a 300tdi and discs all round, not an 88, unless the reg number has been swapped officially and recorded on the V5, its a ringer, There's only one other explanation, its a bitsa and he has receipts for everything, then it should be on a Q plate.

Told him cannot be an 88". That somewhere along the line a fraud and theft has occured. With owners insurance claim and selling price over 10k. Worth action.

He also revealed a little surprise. Ebay stuff has to go through cyber crime unit which is widely known to be woefully under funded. They cannot access ebay on normal departmental computers!

Hehe. Met police have come back. Have them mobile number and they are going to approach the chap. Even just to look under bonnet and check vin out. Guess that's nearly a result.

Hopefully the fact the vin plate is still under the bonnet "even the police" should be able to id it and get it back on the right plates but i would of thought the insurance company would own it so god knows what they will do:mad:
