Yeah, what do you say, I mean I could **** him right off and I might get some work done for free but I would never be able to use him again and the legal fees would be more than the £250 after a couple of letters.

He also said that in the LR service manuals it doesnt mention this issue, I am guessing he is right?

Thanks for the suggestion though in many ways I would like to fight it.

Did they put a new seal in when they changed the filter, a lot of people miss seeing it. And did they clean the sump.Sounds as if its drawing air, hence my question re seal I'd take it back and create hell.

I've got the same problem in my 2000DHSE but it only sticks till the end of the road but the gear change up through 1st and 2nd is lumpy.

I also changed gearbox fluid and filter and seal and it didn't help things.

I will sort out cleaning the govenor at some point but my local LR garage said he's done it a few times and it didn't help things so he doesn't do it any more.

I'd be interested to know what happens when your garage has a play with it.

Might be an idea to drop the oil and then refil with this mega flush stuff to get the crap out and then clean the govenor and hopefully this might get rid of the loose crap.

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who's done the job as to what sort of time it took and whether any special tools required so i can plan to do mine.

Two things , One I would like the full story on this "megaflush" as I have heard about 7 different things from 7 different people now.

Two , when you say seal what do you mean? the kit came with two O rings and the sump gasket and I did ask him to wipe it out before he put it all back which I hope he did.

From what I have read on the ashcroft transmissions website it sounds as if the Gov is partially blocked with crap but this can re occure after cleaning or replacement, I can just pray it doesnt at this point as its with him now.
