Hi all, just a quick one

Rite, 5 door disco 1 with 2" lift running a +5 shocker setup on 285/75 16 BFG km2 muds on the modulars that sit flush with the original arches (can't remember the actual offset, is it +8???)

Question is, does anyone know or even have a guess as to how much arch will need cutting off. Will a camel cut do, or will the full lip need taking out, or will it need to be plastic arches and the full monty???

Thanks

Et33 on a 6j.

If you drop to an et8 you are pushing the tyre wall outboard.

If you go from a 235/75 to a 285/75, you add almost 3 inches to the diameter. The D1 was not designed to cope with that (in many ways).

How about sticking with a 245/75 or a 265/70? Either is +1, and far less to worry about.

Cheers for clearing that up.

I'm hearing Ya, and I agree, but basically ground clearance. Plus I've already got most of the bits, including tyres, I was just curious how much chopping I'd need to do really :)

I ran 33.11.50R15 Simex's on mine, on 15x10 rims with 1" spacers. Forget what the offset was now, would need to look it up.

I cut loads off the arches. But I was fitting some aftermarket wheel spats. Think I took about 6" out of the top of the rear arch. Had to trim the fronts too by quite a bit. And with the Simex's on, I even trimmed the aftermarket wheel arch, as under lock and flex it would still catch.

Stock untrimmed on 31.10.50R15's:

After damaging the aftermarket wheel arch, you can clearly see how much I hacked away at the rear and how much more the wheels stick out past the body.

Cheers for that, it's about that time :) she will get arches if needs be, and I might try 30mm spacers if I go down that route as I don't like the look of wheels being tucked in under the arches, but then it needs to be however it works. but il try without first

Yeah them wheels are fair hanging out ha. Mine will be sitting flush, or somewhere near, so il see wot happens. I was just sat thinking about it so thought I'd ask on here
