Have to say that I just had my replacment XP3 Quest deleivered. I had some personal emails from Bob P (CEO of Sonim) and their EU Sales Director. I got a refund of £100 and two gifts (a spare battery and car charger) plus a new phone - I am very impressed with their after sales service and the new phone has some new functionallity over the one sent to me a couple of months.:)

Why have a land rover phone when you can have an iphone ?? Any thing else just looks rubbish !!!!! Land rover should stick to making cars.
Mudynaty on his iphone !

why buy anything made by apple when theres alternatives, like an abacus? Or perhaps a piece of slate?

Or even something compatable with most of the rest of the world?

Why buy something that needs two fingers to zoom in and out? How can you do this with one hand?

Why buy something with reknown ****e aftercare service, and a product lifetime that is designed to be just longer than the warranty?

Anyone who owns an iPhone goes onto the same little pedastle as people who own a Prius.

Boydy, on his WINDOWS based PC, after just checking his NOKIA N95, listening to music through a PROPER HI FI using WINAMP.

i dont like apple ****e!

but i suppose, they do look good, if you like everything to have rounded edges, little inflated bubbles to stroke gently and a nice muted noise to tell you **** has happened. You sure you don't also drive a prius?

Bought one of these, sent it back after a week of trying to get the email working. A bag of **** in my opinion. Menu's are horrible, satnav is so slow it's unusable and locks up the phone for a couple of mins. If you want to set up your email account on this phone - forget it. The only good thing seems to be the battery life although claims of 1,000 hrs are very optomistic.

I used the embedded java application mujMail, all I had to do was enter the email address I wanted to access and the password, it was a googlemail account and worked first time.

TomTom satnav ftw though for me :)

"Why have a land rover phone when you can have an iphone ?? " - cos thats a girly phone that drinks "spritzers" and will cry if you drop your chainsaw on it (don't ask how I know that)! This is a blokes phone that smokes fags and drinks beer. So far mine has lived up to the toughness claims when working in the forest.
However, the software they have available to download to sync to your PC has one slight flaw - it doesn't work!

because the iphone breaks on its own put it in the manly interior of a proper landrover and it will **** its guts out, the landrover phone (in conjunction with sonim) is waterproof, shock proof, dust proof and everything the iphone isn't (I.E manly, tough and well built)

i bought a brand new landrover S1 phone in the sales on boxing day, sim free for £145:eek: i need a tough phone and knowing how good these are ( a mate has got one, hes dropped it in the lake where he works got it out 20 minutes later n wipped the mud off its fine, driven over it with his defender no damage at all ) i wanted a decent phone that doesnt die prematurley like most modern nokias ( i still have an original 3210 and it still works fine ) am pleased with it, text works well, phone works as a phone shud, the camera is spot on, i havnt mangaed to fathom out the gps yet but am gonna have a play with it later on and a 3 year guarantee finally sold it to me.
i wouldnt have an iphone, my brother got one on contract 3 months ago, hes used it for no more than 3 weeks total, the rest of the time its been back to where he bought it, the battery is crap and dies after a couple of hours from full charge, it turns itself on and off in the middle of calls and im damn sure it would look good after rolling around the inside of a series 2a cab for several months.
the only thing i have to complain about with the sonim landrover phone is that you cant buy a leatherette cover for it like ive had to protect the screen etc for my other phones, god knows why not?

hello what shop sold it you cim free for that mate ? ...

indestructable phone does exist old nokia 3310s, drove over my last one with a 4x4 Case 995 with a loader and a junkari PTO wood chipper on. cracked phones case but still worked :D

I had the 3330 version of that, I bent over and it fell out my top pocket into a drinking trough of icy cold water, whipped the battery out and popped it in an airing cupboard for a few hours and all was fine. :)

Poor old thing soldiered on for years until it fell out me pocket without me realising and I ran over it with a combine harvester (on concrete)

it was a shop in darlington, cant remember the name, will look on the bill when i get home tonight and put details on.
they said they wernt popular as they didnt have all the " extra features " everyone now wants, sounds more like more crap to break down like on modern cars, i'll stick wiv old stuff n basic ish phone, p.s anyone know how long the gps should take to start up on the phone, ive done as the instructions say but it just sits there with the little arrows spinning and doesnt actually start up

Usually only takes 30 secs or so for me.

I'm a bit disapointed with the phone my self. From the off the battery didn't hold it's charge. Then the microphone was crackly, the little Sonim keyring to undo the back broke, then for about a week the microphone didn't work at all!

I had the LR phone when it first came out, got it on an orange contract.
Had it 3 days and sent it back... I'll explain...
It depends what you want from a phone, the sonim phone was just as it says on the tin - very tough. However, thats about it. Its perfect if all you want from a phone is to make calls, but anything more than that i wouldn't recomend it. even the text msging was hard work because it wouldn't let me abbriviate or add words to the predective text bank. The MP3 player on it was annoying, theres no way of playing a 'play list'. it plays one track then you need to go back to your MP3s and select the next track you want to play.
the internet browser is very hard to use. I never used the GPS though so can't comment on that.
Basically it is a very strong PHONE... Thats all it is though. I now have the nokia 3720 yellow. Its fantastic. Same old nokia operating system. Very user friendly. still not a great web browser but other than that is spot on (if you like nokias) Its not as strong as the sonim i doubt but still be underwater and dropped several times - works as well as it did when i got it.

Got one of the Land Rover phones in the For Sale section now. Brand New, only out of the box to check all there and take pix.
