Hi all, I've just changed the clutch slave cylinder on my 300 tdi disco and since the refit the clutch fluid level keeps dropping, i'm having to top it up every few days. I can't seem to find a leak, so I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced the same?

Thanks Jo

take the wading plug out the bottom of the bell housing, if its the cylinder seal leaking it'll fill up the bell housing, and check and re check all connections for leaks, did the clutch bleed up ok after the change?

Hi, Thanks I'll be sure to check your suggestions. It did appear to take forever to bleed as I couldn't get the fluid to come through it required lots of pumping on the pedal, I was told that this could have been due to the system completly loosing all the fluid through the whole system. I had no warning that there was anything wrong until the clutch pedal lost most of it's resistance when trying to engage, then I could bearly change gears. Even with the new Slave cylinder it appears to make a strange noise when I accelerate and change though from 2nd to 3rd this could just be coincidental I suppose but I think it must all be connected. I'm a novice at all this so learning as I go!

it may be that you still have some air in the system somewhere (the clutches are right buggers to bleed up properly) if there's no fluid in the bell housing bleed the system through again and you may find it gets better, or the clutch itself is giving up on you possibly
