Any stability issues with suspension lifts?

Greetings all, my first post on the forum. I recently purchased 2003 110 SW and am currently modding it for some pretty hard green laning including plenty of rock crawling.

One of my options is a pro-comp lift kit which I have been offered for a good price as the current owner doesnt need it any longer.

I wanted to ask if any of you have experienced any stability issues with a 2" lift when it comes to side slopes or even general body roll on tricky sections. I would imagine the springs are a lot stiffer than standard (I have no anti roll bars BTW) but that still places my centre of gravity higher on an already tall vehicle. Are there any noticeable downsides to increased spring stiffness such as reduced articulation, or are the effects negligeable?

I'd be interested to hear your opinions before splashing the cash. Many thanks!

Reet, if you want maximum articulation and grip, you need extended springs that are standard rate or softer than normal. This reduces stability at speed at the expense. My old V8 90 had standard rates on a 2" lift and it was fine, not much different from standard.

A mate of mine put 2" lift springs with 280lb rate springs on his 90. Bodyshell hardly even compressed them giving him nigh on 4" lift. Out trialling I've seen him go to the edge of rolling 4 times, and how he managed to recover I'll never know (or mebbe he's just a good driver). Also traction on uneven powdery surfaces was a problem and he'd get stuck on a section that even series motors were dancing through.

Mine is a procomp 2" kit from mm-4x4.com. I have had no problems with stability.

Thanks Take 5, you raise a good point there as actually I dont know if these springs are stiffer or not , and nor does the chap who has them - he only know they are a pro comp lift set for a 110! so there would be a potential risk there. Really not fussed about on road behavior as I drive like "miss daisy" anyway, but would certainly feel frustrated if they turned out hard as nails like your mates and I kept hanging wheels in the air through lack of articulation! Were the ones on your old 90 procomps too? I wonder if procomp do different rates as well as different lifts?

Anyway, thanks for the response.

Thanks Hun73R , I think we simultaneous posted there and I hadnt seen your reply. Looks like I won't have any problems with these then as they are definately pro-comps. I take it even if yours is a 90 (with mine being a 110) the difference experienced would be the same - ie very little... Cheers.
