Not bothered about bodywork but would like a chassis/bulkhead that won't need too much work.

The plan is to create a sleeping platform in the back and head to Europe and beyond next summer. Would prefer diesel for economy. I don't mind it being slow and drive like a granny anyway.

i am selling my series 1 lwb fitted with 200 tdi, ideally looking for £3.5k but need to get something that the wife can drive when we move.

It started life as a 1954 lwb pickup originally blue 2lt petrol over the past 14 years it has had a marshlands chassis non galvanized but with a removable gearbox cross member, the chassis has had two small patches but is still in excellent condition it could probably use steam cleaning and a full paint job to keep it preserved, the bulkhead was hand built at the same time it is double skinned and has sound proffering inside ( at the time of rebuild it was fitted with a transit di which are a little rough on the ears ) The gearbox and axles are now series 2, diffs are RR just replaced the rear and new oil.The tdi that's now fitted had @ 120000 it had a new timing belt and head gasket last year all the fluids were changed when refitted, on starting she doesn't smoke even under load and doesn't leek anything Rock. The engine mounts are disco which really make a difference with noise and vibration. The body is ok at 60, i have the original rear tub and a spare bonnet with spare wheel carrier, there's a smiths flat heater fitted that works on both speeds and gets hot without ****ing water, the wiper motor is a morris tandem that does the job and could be easily changed back i even have 3 lucas wipers that i fixed and would have used. The box back is made from marine ply and steel it's amazingly handy with two locking doors and bags of storage there's some damaged along the lower ply that's a straight forward repair it's been like it since i got her and hasn't got any worse just never needed to improve it myself.the brakes were fully rebuilt early this year and work great there's a new heavy duty battery, rear prop, the springs are about 3 years old and are grand, she has been rewired with a new fuse box the headlights are halogen, there's a hazard switch and an engine imobliser, The wheels are lwb rims with 705 16 tyres new wranglers on the front and 3 xzl's all 75% tread, she starts without heater plugs and drives nicely with loads of power. There can be lots of extras to go with her :- smiths heater, lights front and back, birmingham badges, there's a butler lamp that's fitted but not wired to a switch, wheels and tyres ( i have a set of wolf rims and tyres that could also go ) various 200 tdi bits, bearings, gasket sets, loads of things that you collect over years that one day you may need but will be useless after this one goes .There is a few jobs that need sorting as and when the gear lever needs swapping i have a spare, one of free wheeling hubs needs fixing, the hand brake needs adjusting , the shocks are scabby they work but look like razor wire, i have to sort the alternator but i am doing that this week so not an issue.I guess the best thing for anyone would be to refit the rear tub slap some paint on it and get it driven or use her how she is and decide what you want later , we are moving up to the Shetlands
