Hi All

Am a new member who has always had series 3 but have just got a defender NA ex military FFR 1987. I’m going to go through it mechanically but can anyone suggest the best antifreeze to use and system capacity - looks like the engine has had a recon by the army. Many Thanks Matt

Best get yourself into the intro section and make an intro post.

I have a 200tdi, my coolant/antifreeze is recommended to be IAT, not OAT.

You might be better off asking in the Defender sub forum rather than Stolen Land Rovers one.......unless your is stolen

I can't recall capacity but standard blue or green ethylene glycol is fine, 50% with water is adequate. Some folk use OAT (pink) but doubts about it on older engines and if definitely doesn't mix with the blue/green stuff.

10/11 litres Iirc, you want the old blue snot, not the red gear.

Don’t trust the colour alone. Halfords sell OAT in BOTH colours, and they look at you as if you have 3 heads when you tell them it’s IAT your after, not OAT.
