Anti Roll Bars

As my defender 90 hardtop is a daily runner and motorway drive that, nowadays, spends only little time mildly off road I have started to change my suspension/wheels to suite. Gone is the 2" lift, now back to standard OEM springs and terrafirma shocks all round. Gone is the mud tyres and replaced with general grabber AT2. The thing is the defender had no Anti Roll Bars when I got it so I am thinking about adding these for better road holding/ride. Any suggestion appreciated...not sure for best to add just front or just rear or both front and rear bars? would a 'uprated' Anti Roll Bar be a better option than standard? any suggestions on makes/brands i should look out for? how easy is the fitment as my defender, by the look of it, has never had them fitted........Cheers.

I bought a Disco that had both anti-roll bars removed, and to put it bluntly, it was bloody dangerous over 65mph.I acquired & fitted just the front one, this has made it much more stable and safer with no issues now. Off road (& I do some fairly serious stuff) there's not as much flex now at the front, but the rear can still flex as much as is required. It works for me!
why not fit just a front one, and if you still feel the need later, you can fit a rear one also.
You will notice a marked improvement in "Tarmac driving"

...yep, more stability needed. looking around the google it seems that they are scarce to find. would there be much of a difference between standard and uprated? anyone had experience on this? recommendations please.....Cheers

My 110 to doesn't have them on the front or rear and am thinking of adding them as I don't do much off roading. Saw them extreme4x4 site.

Just picked up a full set front and rear ARB's of the fleabay...hoping to fit them before a 500 mile motorway round trip over the weekend....just looked under the defender and.........no mounting points......bllx.

I was about to add that. you also need to make sure the mounts are correct. they are diff from 200 to 300tdi in the way they bolt on, as I have bought and sold a few in the past.

they will make road handleing better.

with regards to the dangerous comment above, you just have to adjust your driving style to compensate for the ARB loss. dont drive to fast, dont throw it into corners and generally drive conservatively (not like a tool).

Thanks for the advice. The search is now on for front and rear mounting brackets....The trip then is going to be slow/lots of concentration and no doubt seeming like 1000miles instead of the 500.....oh well ipod fully charged.
