Freelander 1 Anti Roll Bar

Is the anti roll bar on a facelift, or later Freelander 1, a stronger unit than fitted to the earlier model?

I believe the later bar was thicker, so would be stiffer. Perhaps owners could measure early and later bars to confirm this.

Would a stiffer roll bar wear out drop links quicker?

I've never had to replace drop links on my '99 motor.

Probably, but using quality drop links is the answer to that, or replace the factory drop links with Rose joints, which I did on my MG ZS 180.

Drop links you mean? They normally make a knocking sound over bumps, or when mounting a curb.
