NEVER EVER believe you are getting a good deal from ANY motor trader.

You ARE being ripped-off by professional con-men.

Same with estate agents.

Not all salesman are out there to con you.

I am a car salesman myself and i do just fine by getting customers the deal they want and i still manage to make a good living. Obviously you have just had a bad experience with a few people who spoil it for the rest of us!

That's a bit harsh! I spent eight years working in sales in various dealerships and never ripped off anybody. I did deals that were good for the customer and (mostly!) made a few bob for me and the dealership too. Car sales (and estate agents!) get a bad name from the few who do rip people off. Most are just honest people making a living.

CharlesY is correct that you should have your wits about you when buying something from a dealership but no more so than if buying a TV from Currys or a holiday on the 'net. Do your homework and take your time over any decision and you will normally do just fine. If you have a specific experience of one of the few dishonest dealers out there then share it with people so they know who to avoid - Don't just tar everybody with the same brush!!

Cheers
