Another tailgate problem

My Freelander Tailgate won't open on remote or key and the rear window wont go down. When you try to open the rear window you can hear the relay clicking but it wont move. ive managed to get the door card of but cant find any loose wires and the fuse is ok.
I dont know what else to check.

Yup Ross. . . .is it er 3 door ? , if so check the micro switch in the detatchable roof bit , this is a common problem. . . .

mine was like that a few weeks ago, turned out the window regulator was fooked. **** easy job to do. just dropped it off at the garage and then collected it when it was sorted.........piece o ****

its a 5 door i've tried the a different handle with no luck it must be the regulator.

Just another drop in the freelander ocean of expense.
i think the regulator was £70 (check e bay, you might get lucky)
canna remember what the labour was coz i was having another job done and it got lumped in. i think changing it is easy but someone will come along on here who knows a bit better.

ROSS D i was quoted £345 from land rover dealer for a new tailgate window regulator inc fitting! i have seen them cheaper on ebay though, so i am going down that route. Although I also need someone on here to lend a hand with some fitting instructions??

why don't you just try a regular garage, it doesn't have to be a dealer as long as they are reliable. i use a local garage up the road and he's cheaper + quicker than the dealers.
it's nice to come away without feeling raped every time

After a weekend of taking the rear tailgate trim of and checking the wiring and the regulator motor and trying to see if there were any loose wires i found nothing, just about to call it a day and thought i should just check it started working !!!

I don't know what i did but i was well pleased.

It worked all weekend until the wife had it today and now its stopped again and when you lock it it beeps, its got to be a lose wire just spent the last two hours trying to go through the wiring again but i cant see any thing wrong.

This Car is doing my head in !!!!

Check connector pins for corrosion and security, the beep is a " mislock " and it indicates the tailgate is not shut fully so make sure the latcch is not faulty, ie is sending out door closed signal.
