He hasnt got a fault code on his EAS
He must be switching off before the pump trips and faults the system
He probably has a leak to the tank or the pump is not producing enough pressure
Have you tested the pump pressure @sjp873 ?

it was a new dunlop pump fitted Saturday, all pipes around the valve block were not leaking air.

I'm going to have to take it to a garage to get it on the ramp to look underneath.

I would take out the main line to the tank, at the valve block, and stick a real compressor on the end and see if you can hear it leaking (I know that is probably an Oxymoron)
You will not hear a leak using just the wee pump on the vehicle. An electric tyre pump might work, never tried it
If your pump is providing good air and the car is not rising then it must be going somewhere.
If the car is not being told to rise then the pump would not run as the tank would already be full

You can always buys Schrader values and put on each corner line from the valves block and pump each corner manually with tyre inflators then you can check all corners are filling up ok?

I bought them on Ebay and done it to diagnose a fault and had them on as a temporary fix until I got a new height sensor.

Back again...

So, I got a call from the garage today, apparently i need a new valve block, drive box and a compressor... i wont shock you with the price but....

1) ALL THREE...REALLY!
2) The valve block, I guess it isn't just the solenoids that go wrong on these? there is no air leak, but the compressor gets really hot!
3) ALL THREE!!!!!!!!!
4) what else should i be looking at as there is no air leaks under the car either?
5) when I turn the engine off I get that clicking sound,i can only assume that its from the solenoids in the valve block, if so what are they doing?
6) I can get replacement parts/refurb kits on fleabay, does anyone know anyone who has done this?

other than that!

Loads have done it.
Even I’ve had a bash and I’ve never had EAS :p:D
You need to do it atleast once if you own these things.
All 3 is quite a diagnosis, not impossible but i agree with that feeling you have in your throat.

There are members here that may help with replacements that are known sound units.

Google a guy called Storey Wilson his EAS videos are really good will show you how to rebuild a pump etc.

Seriously? Mate, take it somewhere else.
It clicks when you turn it off so it self levels. It's normal. You need some who knows the system.

Yes, but does that mean its working or not? could i get away with just replacing the solenoids?

would love to take to someone who knows... they they gave it to a 'specialist'. I'm in darkest Devon... not that many around tbh!

If the valves are clicking the sensors are talking to the ecu and the ecu is talking to the driver pack and te driver pack is reducing the voltage and talking to the valve block.
What was the original problem. ;)

Hi all. (p38 1999-T 4.0L 140k)

So, replaced the pump today after it failed to rise from bump stops. Second one in about 5 years.

Pump works fine, no EAS error messages.

However, still failing to rise. How long does it take to fill in the system?

On the valve block there is a little filter for the air that is released, unscrew it and get it running.
If it constantly piddles air the diaphragm could be burst/stick open.
Also check around the valve block while it's running and squirt some soapy water around all the pipes you see on the face of the block. (filter reinstalled).

oh ok... i accidentally sprayed soapy water on this a few weeks ago, it bubbled up like a kids balloon! i get it back tomorrow so will check it unscrewed and report back!
