Hi All .. Recent gearbox issues with my Grand Cherokee forced a rethink (and a look for a deeper wallet!) around travel and vehicles. This was also coupled with some of the wettest weather I had ridden through as the jeep was in dock and work beckoned in Manchester. When my expensive wet riding kit was dryer on the outside than the inside I made the decision to get the Freelander that I had looked at that weekend.

Several things I forgot in my dampened haste to dry transport, never buy a car in the rain, be suspicious of dates crossed out in service manuals and middle aged women who know "nothing about cars" shouldn’t be given the benefit of doubt.

That said a good clean, decent service, strip and lubrication of various bits and some bumper rejuvenation and all was OK with my TD4 ES (oh apart from what appears to be a rather rusty fuel tank carrier but no doubt that will be the source of some discussion at some point)

The Freelander will be used for travel to Blackpool and doing some towing of the Rib and trailer tent with a little bit of light off roading to get to some repeater kit I look after)

It will sound strange but I actually enjoy repairing vehicles and suspect I will be in for some on-going enjoyment out of this one!
