Hi folks,

I'm new here; we have just bought an '03 D2 (Dotty)... and it has started leaking already!

Previous landys include a classic rangey, disco (Dilys) and Defender (Dolly) - all of which I loved, (though the wife wasn't keen on the Defender). I'm not a hugely hands-on home mechanic - I don't really have the facilities or the expertise; never really gone beyond changing starter motors and alternators.

If anyone in the Derbyshire area can recommend any decent LR indy's, that would be ideal, as my usual indy isn't an LR specialist and I can't bring myself to give my money to the main stealer unless I really have to. I am fortunate in having Paddock Spares on my route to work, and i'm tempted to try at Mike at Derby4x4 if people have heard good things?

I'm sure I'll be popping up on peoples threads from time to time as more and more things come out of the woodwork on the disco.

Cheers guys,
Munz

Thanks guys. Neilly, I haven't been able to drag myself under it for a proper look yet, but the puddles are a pinky, oily fluid. It isn't PS fluid or engine oil, wasn't sure if it might be ATF. I'll be having a look later.

Hi gents,

So in the end, I took it to Derby 4x4. There's a bung at the top front of the block that was just hanging out (!) I had bigger problems though, as the block was filling up with fuel!! It had 11.5 litres of fuel/oil mix in it when they drained the oil out. Injector washers/O-rings apparently (no visible cracks in the head).

That all sound kosher to you guys? Cost me a couple of hundred quid with oil, filter and rocker cover gasket aswell (it was badgered, I saw it come off), but better than a big bang on the motorway o_O

Cheers,
Munz

For info, they seemed alright - chucked me a freelander for a few hours while they sorted it out.
