Hello chaps, looking for some inspiration. Being driven mad with leaks from my 300tdi roof, and having read all too often about leaky sunroofs etc, decided to fix it once and for all. I have already sealed (ahem!) around the outside seal on the roof to try and fix this but with no success.
I have the usual leaks, especially at the rear where the water drips from the trim below the alpine window area, onto the extra seats in the boot.(7 seater , 5 door by the way).
Now i now a lot of guys have mentioned the sunroof drain seals etc, but to be sure i have bitten the bullet and removed the complete headlining.This was not as difficult as i thought, my 9 year old daughter and myself managed it in about 45 mins.
Once i did this , i hosed the car to death as it was not raining for a change. However to my surprise, not one drip from he sunroof or the alpine windows.There was water coming in though,it was running along the metal edge which is below the alpine window and above the boot side windows.
This leak was the same on both sides if the car, and it is obviously the cause of my rotten boot floor which i thankfully replaced about a year ago.
I sincerely hope someone has had this problem and fixed it, as the only place i can think of where water can come in , is just below the rear roof gutter, where there is factory sealant. I have resealed this area and thought i had cracked it, but todays downpours, have,alas, proved not.
